Collaboration and Winning Gold
This year the beautifully crafted short film by Anya Beyersdorf “Vampir” and its cinematographer Warwick Field, ACS took out the much-coveted award. Vampir was shot using the RED EPIC paired with KOWA vintage anamorphic glass. This combination gave Vampir a unique look while also capturing maximum resolution and colour information for the post production path.
When you’re working with edit houses such as The Butchery and sound finishing facility Final Sound, you want your time spent on the most valuable work, this is where Final Post’s agile post workflows provided an efficient and time-saving process for all involved. All the data from set was shipped back to the facility where we could sync, colour, burn-in and establish the metadata which would enhance and support the following post-processes. 3 days of shooting was processed within 6hrs using our agile processes and the power of Colorfront Express Dailies.
Finally bringing it all together with colourist Shane Burrell in Final Post’s Newcastle theatre, Warwick was able to sit down and watch the frames being projected in true P3 colour space on their 22′ screen. As the film plays much of its time in the dark, the subtleties and nuances of dark shading and tones were critical in achieving the outcome Warwick was looking for.
We are incredibly proud of the work we produce and being able to collaborate with passionate and skilled cinematographers who push the envelope. Congratulations to Warwick and the entire team for this wonderful achievement.
