Rhododendrom

This one-taker was masterfully crafted by the unique collaboration between director Lewis Attey and Ryan Alexander Lloyd.

In the early hours of the morning a middle aged man works himself into a violent rage and confronts his noisy neighbours. Rhododendron is a film about anger and the deafening silence that follows the din.

This one-taker was masterfully crafted by the unique collaboration between director Lewis Attey and Ryan Alexander Lloyd. Shooting this long take on Super35, handheld at sunrise with mixed lighting, staircases and wild movements was an ambitious task – and they nailed it.

Final Post provided the colour and finishing for this short film, leaning heavily on the Filmworkz NUCODA system and its world-leading film DVO toolset. Due to the nature of the single take, each colour tool was able to be animated and keyframed seamlessly between rooms and different lighting conditions. Enhancing the image without being distracting or noticeable.
